Director: Mitchell Arens

Production Company: Normandie Films

Synopsis: In the depths of a Siberian winter, Sergei, a lumbermill worker and recovering alcoholic, struggles to maintain sobriety and the well-being of his nephew. Filmed over one winter, director and subject collaborate to paint an authentic portrait of what it means to be a working-class Russian in the modern era; granting the audience access to a part of the world—and its people—that are currently inaccessible. Sergei’s deeply personal journey takes on a mythic quality set against the unforgiving, yet beautiful Siberian tundra.
